Looking for a simple, effective night gel that feels light, hydrates deeply, and targets fine lines and uneven tone? This DIY Clove Collagen Night Gel layers antioxidant-rich clove with soothing aloe vera, moisture-locking glycerin, green tea polyphenols, and vitamin E. Clove’s key molecule (eugenol) is known for strong antioxidant and calming benefits—great for stressed, dull skin—but it can also be a little spicy. That’s why we use a gentle clove infusion (and only an optional micro-drop of essential oil) to keep skin happy while still getting results.

Aloe gel provides a cool, comforting base that supports skin repair, while glycerin keeps the barrier plump through the night. Green tea adds extra protection against daily oxidative stress, and vitamin E helps defend the look of smooth, bouncy skin. The result is a fresh, easy night gel you can whip up in minutes and use all week.

Safety first: Clove essential oil is potent. Keep the total amount well under 0.5% of the formula—or simply skip it if you have sensitive skin. Always patch test.

Ingredients Required (makes ~60–70 g; 2–3 weeks of nightly use)

Aloe vera gel (store-bought cosmetic grade) – 50 g (about 3½ tbsp)

Whole cloves (laung) – 1 tsp

Green tea – 1 tea bag (or 1 tsp loose leaves)

Glycerin (pharmacy grade) – 1 tsp

Vitamin E – 1 capsule (pierced) or 4–5 drops cosmetic vitamin E oil

Rose water (gulab jal), distilled if possible – 1–2 tsp (to adjust texture)

Optional (experienced users only): Clove essential oil – 1 drop total for the whole batch (≈0.1–0.2%) — or skip for sensitive skin

Procedure

Brew the clove–green tea concentrate (gentle but effective).

Add 1 tsp whole cloves to 100 ml hot water. Simmer on the lowest heat for 5 minutes.

Switch off heat, add green tea, and steep 3 minutes.

Strain and cool completely. You’ll use 2–3 tsp now; refrigerate the rest for up to 7 days for refills.

Build the gel base.

In a clean bowl, whisk 50 g aloe gel until smooth and glossy.

Add 1 tsp glycerin and vitamin E (from 1 capsule), whisk until uniform.

Blend in the active infusion.

Slowly drizzle in 2 tsp of the clove–green tea concentrate, whisking as you pour.

If you want a thinner, silkier gel, whisk in up to 1 tsp rose water (go slow).

Optional scent/boost (advanced & patch-tested only).

Add exactly 1 drop clove essential oil to the whole batch and whisk thoroughly. Do not exceed this amount.

Jar & store.

Spoon into a sterilized 50–75 ml glass jar. Label the date.

Refrigerate and use within 2–3 weeks (this is a low-preservative DIY).

Instructions (How to Use)

Patch test first: Apply a tiny amount behind the ear or on the inner arm for 24 hours. If redness or stinging persists, discontinue or make a clove-free version.

Nightly routine:

Cleanse.

If you use actives (AHAs/retinoids), apply them first and wait 15–20 minutes.

Smooth a pea-sized amount of Clove Collagen Night Gel over face and neck.

SPF next morning: Antioxidant routines show their best results when paired with daily broad-spectrum sunscreen.

Who should avoid? Very sensitive, barrier-impaired, or acne-prone users should skip the essential oil and start every other night. If you’re pregnant/breastfeeding or on anticoagulants, avoid clove essential oil and consult a clinician.

Benefits of the DIY (Why It Works)

Antioxidant defense for lines & spots:

Clove infusion plus green tea helps neutralize oxidative stress—the everyday culprit behind fine lines, dullness, and uneven tone—promoting a brighter, more even look over time.

Collagen-supportive, soothing base:

Aloe vera offers a comforting, water-rich matrix that supports skin’s repair processes and keeps it calm and supple while you sleep.

Plump, dewy hydration:

Glycerin draws and holds moisture in the outer skin layers, helping your barrier stay resilient so fine lines look softer by morning.

Extra protection from free radicals:

Vitamin E complements the antioxidant blend, helping defend the look of smooth, bouncy skin and supporting long-term radiance.

Final Tips

Keep batches small and refrigerated.

If you feel persistent warmth or stinging, switch to a clove-free refill (use green tea + aloe + glycerin + vitamin E), then re-introduce the clove infusion at half the amount.

Be consistent at night and wear SPF by day for the most visible results.
